VERSIONSQUARED Thoroughly brilliant. Sea of the Dying Dhow is genuinely one of the best post-rock records to ever have been released, drawing from a variety of genres to construct a soundscape that brings you from one end of melancholia to the other. Favorite track: Water.

Broonist When you can't find a favorite track, you're listening to a good record. This is such a record. Favorite track: In Dead Palm Fields.

v a l e n t i n — s i t u I've discovered *shels in the debut of my post-rock era (~2009) and well... it was like a lightning in my head ! Sea of the Dying Dhow is remarkable for its musical heterogeneity. Between post-rock/core, metal, folk acoustic (and sometimes all these in a same composition), this full-length is a masterpiece and the singer Mehdi Safa an awesome artist and person. There is so much pieces of art inside... 'The Conference of the Birds', 'The Killing Tent', 'Indian Part 2', 'In Dead Palm Fields'... Favorite track: In Dead Palm Fields.

Svetime This album trully supported my imagination when i read one of my favorite novels. Today, when I listen again to this album, I see again these landscapes and those heroes discribed on this novel. Really awesome. Favorite track: The Conference of the Birds.
Barf Carcass

Barf Carcass In some ways better -- less erratic -- than the follow up "Plains of the Purple...". Shels are good at what they do, and no one is quite doing it like this. Favorite track: The Conference of the Birds.
Daniel C

Daniel C This album is one of my all time favorites. Its a wonderful mix of metalcore, post-rock, sludge metal, and ambient music that drips with atmosphere. If you like any of those genres check it, you'll like what you hear! Favorite track: The White Umbrella.
